Pip install gmsh-dev: Failed building wheel, running setup.py install instead
I uninstalled gmsh to avoid any conflicts. Then I run the command pip install --force-reinstall --no-cache-dir gmsh-dev
.
It produces the following output (Windows 10, python 3.8.5, pip 20.3.3:
Collecting gmsh-dev

DEPRECATION: gmsh-dev was installed using the legacy 'setup.py install' method, because a wheel could not be built for it. pip 21.0 will remove support for this functionality. A possible replacement is to fix the wheel build issue reported above. You can find discussion regarding this at https://github.com/pypa/pip/issues/8368.
