issue with .msh 4.1 ASCII format
Hello, I am trying to use gmsh to import a mesh file (.med format) and export it to .msh format to re import it to OpenFOAM using gmshToFoam. but I found myself having some issues: if I export it using last version of gmsh 4.11.1: in the format ASCII 4.1, and import it into OpenFOAM, the mesh looks that is clearly wrongly connected. in the format ASCII 2.2, and import it into OpenFOAM, the mesh looks correctly connected but I am losing information about the surfaces groups. I thought that it might be an issue simply from the importer of OF (gmshToFoam) but nevertheless, trying with other gmsh versions the mesh after the importation looks clearly different:
here is the example I was trying to import to OF Mesh_1.med
it looks like it also depends on the reading of the mesh format? if I import with another format (.gmf ASCII) then import to gmsh and export using format ASCII 4.1 it looks also different:
the file in gmfgmfASCII.mesh
the different original meshes were exported using salome 9.11, I have tried all the possible combination of the different possible exporting formats of salome before importing it to gmsh, without luck, this included: med 4.1, 4.0, 3.3, 3.2 CGNS (wich gave an error in gmsh 4.11.1) GMF ASCII, binary (binary gave an error in gmsh 4.11.1)
just a little bit of extra info regarding my issue, the exportation with version 2.1 disappears the physical groups because I am using the "save all elements" on (as it is mentioned in this mail https://onelab.info/pipermail/gmsh/2018/012719.html ) nevertheless this is necessary, if I don't check this option I am not getting the hexa cells of the mesh (only pyramids and tetras) during the importing in OF
