Faulty high-order element subdivision on curved surface for structured hexahedral mesh
Dear Mr. Geuzaine,
I have an issue with the placement of the high-order points on curved surfaces of hexahedral structured meshes. As visible in the screenshot of a cylinder mesh GMSH does not place the high order points correctly for element edges on a curved surface that are not collinear with a CAD curve. On the CAD curve itself the high-order points are placed correctly and equidistantly but the more far from the bounding CAD curve the points are distorted towards the left and the right. This effect leads to serious errors in my simulation.
I already tried every possible parameter and high order mesh optimization method implemented but without success. It seems that the transfinite interpolation is not working properly in the cylinder axis direction. I tried to build the mesh with the extrusion option but to be sure I also generated every point and line by hand and defined transfinite curves, surfaces and volumes everywhere, but the result is the same. Could you please provide any strategy to deal with this issue? Thank you very much.
Kind regards Matthias Frey
