How to determine the faces of PEC objects in a boundary box
Dear developer, For this case, I defined a 20x20x20 two-layered boundary box where x ranges from -10 ~ 10, y ranges from -10 ~ 10, and z ranges from -10 ~ 0 and 0 ~ 10, which represents two layers with names 101 and 102.
So I defined two box-shaped PEC objects with the following:
1: x:-4 ~ 0 y:-2 ~ 2 z=-2 ~ 2
2: x:0 ~ 4 y:-2 ~ 2 z=-2 ~ 2
And I cut the volume of objects 1 and 2 out because I don't mesh inside of the PECs.
So it returns me two volumes, 101 and 102, with 27 faces.
(Two connected PECs have ten faces in total because their sharing faces connected the objects, and no charge will be present on the shared faces)
In this simple example, I want to sort the faces into four groups:
faces of PEC 1: In this case, they are 7,11,12,13,20,24,25,26
faces of PEC 2: In this case, they are 8,9,10,14,21,22,23,27
faces of the whole outer boundary box, and they are 1,2,4,5,6,15,16,17,18,19
And 3 is the others which are the faces that separate the layers.
I want to get nodes on each group's faces, so I have to sort them into different groups.
I was thinking about using the center of the mess for each face to sort them into different groups.
Do you have any other good approach?
Or, besides cutting, is there a way to create mesh only on the surface of the PEC objects?
Please help me with it. Prefer different view of perspectives.
