Transfinite mesh "warps" on polylines/splines while it does not on ellipse arc
Hi all,
-> I am using the latest binaries 4.11.1 from the website and I am on Linux
-> .geo file for this issue: warped-Cmesh.geo
I want to create a 2D C-mesh around a somewhat generic airfoil for CFD. The airfoil's shape is given as a points list (66 points to be precise). In order to fully control the boundary layer mesh I need to create a fully structured (quad)mesh.
I use the method of defining Transifinte Curves -> Surfaces -> Recombine Surface, to create a structured mesh. That works well except for some rather intense "warping"/bending of the quad mesh in the surface, while the 1D/line mesh looks perfectly fine. See the picture below (the front+bottom section) for what I mean.
Now I tried different approaches to create a geometry-Curve for the airfoil tip: 2-point line Line(1) = {1,2};
and ellipse arc (used for the airfoil tip in the top half of the airfoil) create an evenly spaced structured grid without mesh warping, but polyline using Line(1) = {1,2,3,4...};
or (B)Spline or Bezier-Curves lead to pretty similar "badly" warped meshes.
I am not sure whether that is expected behavior
I hope the issue is understandable and in case there is sth I should try out, or provide more data, I'll happily do so
Thanks already, Tobi
