Detached surface elements
Hello,
i got a warning from a PDE solver regarding some triangle elements not really attached to tetraedron elements. I was not convinced so i had used external tools to investigate this problem even further and...It was correct. Here is an example It does not happen for every elements, only for some of them. I can't explain why.
Please find enclosed the full code to produce this issue. I am using gmsh 4.11.1 on windows installed via pip. BrokenWheel.py
The code contains 3 functions:
-One to build the "broken" mesh: BuildBrokenWheelOriginal
-One to build a not broken similar mesh: BuildBrokenWheelRevised
-The function relying on an external tool to find detached elements (you can ignore it, here is the link https://gitlab.com/drti/basic-tools): BuildDetachedSkinElements
The difference between the 2 meshes is the following:
-in the first case, i create a 3D geometry (2D+extrusion) and duplicate it before meshing (issue)
-in the second case, i create a 2D geometry, duplicate it and then extrude before meshing (no issue)
Kind regards, David.
