3D Mesh Generation Failire due to 2D Prescribed Mesh Element Size change
I am trying to create a closed volume for an aircraft and generate a 3D mesh. The 3D mesh is composed of 3 separate parts: aircraft, **farfield **and symmetry plane. Here is the workflow
The aircraft geometry is given and written in STL format. Then I create a GEO script to connect the aircraft-symmetry plane intersections in turn. Similarly, connect all farfield points. Finally, merge the aircraft together and create an STL surface mesh containing all parts. Next, another GEO script is created to set physical information and create a closed volume and generate a volume mesh.
I found that when I decrease the 2D Prescribed Mesh Element Size of the Symmetry plane (the aircraft surface mesh is constant) and maintain the same workflow, I can't generate a 3D mesh and GMSH reported: "a segment and a fact intersect". But if I generate a coarse symmetry plane 2D mesh, it can generate 3D mesh at last.
How can I solve this? I hope I can create a more refined mesh around my aircraft.
The file attached is a successful case and a failed case, each case contains one GEO stript to create the 3D mesh and a combined 2D mesh.
