Periodic surfaces: mesh is not conforming (hanging faces)
Hi all,
I try to set periodic surface mesh to get identical cells at the both sides of the periodic frontiers (Z direction) of my 3D domain but I obtain the error: Error : Mesh is not conforming (1260 hanging faces)!
When I visualize the 2D element edges of the mesh with the Z direction orthogonal to the screen I see that the mesh seems conformal, see picture below.
I think that the non-conformity of the mesh is located at the interface between the structured and the non-structured mesh. Indeed, when I only visualize Volume 19 (consisting in the non structured cells) with 3D element faces and edges I see 2 issues:
- Some cells seem overlapping (see top of the Volume). I am wondering if it is a visualization issue or a real issue.
- The faces are triangles which may induce the non-conformity warning: structured hexa outside the Volume 19 VS tetra cells inside -> the tetra cell faces are associated to half of the hexa cell faces. I try to Recombine Volume and Surface but it changes nothing.
I have read tutorial 18 (d3ea6140) but I do not see the benefit from adding boolean in my case.
Here is my code:channel_with_sudden_expansion_14_0802.geo
Any help would be very appreciated! Thanks a lot!
