Cannot extrude quad meshed surface into hex elements
I have been trying to get a quasi 3d quad mesh with a boundary layer. I have been followping x2.cpp example and trying to get the transfinite mesh to work on my geometry. I get ** Error : Transfinite algorithm only available for 5- and 6-face**. I am not sure what constitutes a face but my geometry does not appear to be much more complicated than the example surface used in the x2.cpp.
This is as far as I have gotten I ideally I would like to put a boundary layer elements but one thing at a time. I have tried extruding this, but all the quads are lost. I have done this with recombineall3d and it makes no difference. I have extruded just the geometry as well as extruding a mesh. I have tried converting the mesh into geom objects with create geometry and it still reverts back to tris and tets.
I know boundary layers is a sticking point but I figure I should be able to get a pure hex mesh out of this geometry. Any ideas on how to get this over the finish line. Ideally with a boundary layer. If I can figure out what constitutes a "side" I may be able to carve it up and mesh in sections.
