Meshing slender (large aspect ratio) geometries
Hello, I am currently working towards generating and meshing geometries in gmsh. Two geometries, (a) and (b), which seem to present a challenges while meshing are presented below. I would very much appreciate any inputs on the same.
Case (a): tapered cylinder (R_1=1, R_2=0.5, L=140)
It was observed that 'transfinite' is required to mesh the same. However, the resulting curved surfaces (3, 4, 5 and 6 in 'mesh1.geo') do not agree with the geometry generated by using the 'cone' option.
How can the same geometry be generated and meshed in gmsh?
Case (b): cylinder with a hole (R=0.5, L=140, R_hole=0.1, 2 holes)
In this case, the geometry was partitioned into three segments (as indicated in 'mesh2.geo'), and the transfinite option applied to the regions away from the hole. However, the volume is still not meshed (in addition to issue with transfinite surfaces 7 and 10), with ill-shaped tets being indicated. What would be a good way to mesh the same?
Thank you for your time, and input.
