Problem: Gmsh duplicating lines/surfaces during export?
I have a problem in which gmsh seems to be duplicating lines and surfaces of a geometry whenever I try to export.
This is the geometry I am using:
It is essentially an extruded square section with two rounded vertices of different radii.
If I mesh this geometry in 2D, you can see the list of 25 lines and 8 surfaces appear in the command window:
I then export this geometry as a .STEP file:
However, if I load this .STEP file back into gmsh and mesh it in 2D, it registers 126 lines and 24 faces.
The extra faces are exact duplicates of the original 8 faces.
I tried instead generating the geometry using the Ruled ThruSections command, but I ran into the same problem.
This problem doesn't happen if I replace the geometry instead with any of the built-in geometry commands (e.g. cylinder).
Does anyone know what is going on here?
I am using gmsh 4.1.1 on Windows 10.
Thank you.
