Coverting a symetric STL surface mesh to volume mesh
Hello, I am trying to use Gmsh to generate 3D mesh for my homemade STL file.
The STL file is attached, which is a half-body aircraft and the other side is omitted since its symmetry.
Firstly, I tried to follow the online tutorial video, just merging the STL file and adding a volume and finally generating a 3D mesh. However, I failed at last. it reported one error: no element in volume 1 and one warning: No tetrahedra in region 1.
Then I read the User Guide and Tutorial (t13) to find some help. I think I need to classify surfaces since the STL file just has only one surface. I modify t13.geo, change the file input, and then I got split surfaces, but it can not add volume successfully.
I'm not sure what the reason is, I guess maybe I didn't select the volume boundaries and holes correctly. Or maybe I need to add a surface mesh in the symmetry plane. It would really help if you can give me some suggestions and advice.
