Mesh quality metrics and ways to improve them
I have learned that the quality metrics are given by
- SICN: signed inverse condition number
- Gamma: inscribed radius / circumscribed radius
- SIGE: signed inverse error on the gradient of FE solution
in Tools->Statistics. My question is: what constitutes a good value for these metrics? From other posts I have seen that ideally they are close to 1 (the value in Statistics), is this correct?
If so, how can we improve these metrics? Specially if those elements with lower values are spread out instead of focused on a specific region of the geometry.
Thanks
